The Commandments of Jesus (Day 26)

See the source imageSorry for the late post today.  It’s been a crazy busy day so far!!  So without further ado, let’s see what Jesus wants us to do!!

Commandment #26

We are not to speak derogatorily of others

This kind of goes along with the last couple of days of commandments.  We are not to speak in a negative manner towards others.

Jesus said, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment.  And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’  Matthew 22:37-39

By following these 2 commandments, we will be obeying commandment #26, because we will not be talking negatively about our neighbor if you are supposed to love them like you love yourself.

Supporting Scripture

Matthew 5:22 –  But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment. And whoever says to his brother, ‘Raca!’ shall be in danger of the council. But whoever says, ‘You fool!’ shall be in danger of hell fire.

  1. i would bet that speaking derogatorily against our neighbors could be the number one problem among Christians. Before you become a true Christian, talking bad behind peoples’ back can seem so natural and okay. But now when someone tries to get me to agree with their speaking derogatorily about someone or go along with it..its quite uncomfortable, and sometimes I give in…and feel guilty after and repent. Its a horrible habit that even born again believers need to stay on top of daily

    1. Amen Aaron it is one of the toughest things to just keep your mouth shut but the Lord also knows the intent of our heart.

    2. I completely agree with that assessment Aaron. Even today I’ve seen the backbiting, slandering, reviling, etc happening at an ever increasing rate among the Christian people. It’s much worse than it was just a couple of years ago and it continues to grow.
