The Lord wants our undivided attention but we’re not giving it to Him. – Kathleen

I received this dream on the morning of November 9th 2018

In my dream, I was asked to counsel a family who belonged to a congregation I had served as pastor over ten years ago. They were having a great deal of trouble functioning as a family. When I entered their house, I immediately knew what the problem was.

Each family member’s attention was directed to an electronic device of some kind. It seemed as though they couldn’t take their eyes off of their device. I told everyone that they would have to turn off their devices if I was to counsel them at all. Grudgingly they began to turn them off. Some weren’t easy to turn off. Some of the devices needed to have their batteries removed before they’d turn off, and some of these had residual power which enabled them to work long after the batteries had been removed. THAT was annoying! As we waited for these devices to power down, some family members turned their devices back on and went back to focusing on them. To say the least, I was frustrated, even angry. I was not going to be able to counsel them as long as they couldn’t pull themselves away from their devices. End of dream.

Interpretation. This dream applies to myself and many others as well. The distractions (electronic devices) in our lives prevent us from giving our full attention to the Lord and receiving His counsel. Our many familial problems will continue so long as our focus is everywhere but the Lord. The Lord wants our undivided attention but we’re not giving it to Him.
He is not pleased.
